League of Legends Wild Rift is one of the best MOBA games available on mobile platforms right now and here is the ultimate beginner’s guide for the game in 2023.
League of Legends: Wild Rift is the mobile version of the world-famous MOBA game League of Legends. The two games share a lot of similarities, including the gameplay mechanics, champions, and even skins. Being developed by Riot Games, both games have many things in common.
League of Legends Wild Rift follows the common MOBA features. So if you are someone who has tried any other MOBA game, it will not be difficult for you to get a good start to the game.
Wild Rift is also a very beginner-friendly game. Which means, it is easy for beginners to get a grip on the game easily. Wild Rift does not include any complex mechanism which might be tough for the players to understand. However, this guide will provide you with everything that is necessary for a beginner to know about the game.
Gameplay Overview
League of Legends Wild Rift is a 5v5 MOBA game. The map of Wild Rift is mirrored, which means both sides of the map are basically the same. On the edge of both sides, there is a base. The teams start at the beginning from this base.

The primary objective of the game is to destroy the enemy’s Nexus. The Nexus is protected by three layers of turrets in all three lanes. So, players will need to clear these turrets out first in order to reach the Nexus and destroy it in order to win.
Map Overview
Lanes
There are a total of three lanes in League of Legends Wild Rift. Each lane is played by a specific class of champions. The lanes are:
- Baron Lane: Baron Lane is mainly played by Fighter, Assassin, and Tank class champions. This lane generally provides more EXP, which helps champions of this certain classes to upgrade faster.
- Mid Lane: This lane is mainly played by Assassin and Mage class champions of Wild Rift. This is the shortest lane on the map, so this map requires more skills for the players as they will face a continuous wave of enemies.
- Dragon Lane: Dragon Lane is mainly played by Marksman and Support class champions. This lane grants the players with more gold which helps marksmen in buying more equipment and getting stronger in the later stage of the game. On the other hand, a support champion is very necessary for this lane as the marksmen usually have a very less amount of Health Points.
Turret
Each team’s main line of defence around the perimeter of the map is the turrets. There are a total of three turrets in each lane. The turret that is located the furthest from the base is known as the first outer turret, then the second outer turret, and finally the base turret.

Players are required to destroy these turrets in order to seize control of the map and advance toward the enemy’s base. The only way to ensure victory is to wipe out the opposing base. Turrets have the additional ability to deliver damage to enemies if they are within a certain range of the turret.
As soon as the game begins, you should concentrate on demolishing turrets as quickly as possible in order to win the match easily and to keep your domination throughout the battle.
Jungle
Jungle is a place which is situated between the lanes on both sides of the map. Different monsters and creeps are spawned in certain locations on the map. Killing these mobs will grant the players with EXPs and gold.

The jungle is mainly played by the assassins. They can equip equipment and make their build solely based on killing these mobs to level themselves up. Junglers can also help their teams when needed as they keep moving between lanes.
Minion
There are three types of minions in Wild Rift: Melee, caster, and cannon minions. Melee minions are short-range and the most common minions. On the other hand, caster and cannon minions are comparatively stronger.

After 12:15, each wave will either have one or two cannon minion waves, but no ranged minion waves at all. After this point in the game, the speed of the game often picks up as the attack damage of the minions increases.
Cannon minions not only provide the players with more money but also make it simpler for the players to level up and become more powerful. Super minions are spawned once the base inhibitor is destroyed. These minions have comparatively more health and damage compared to the other minions.

Spawns
Dragon

Dragons spawn at the dragon pit on the side of the bottom lane which is also called the dragon lane. There are four types of dragons based on different elements. Defeating these dragons provides the whole team with a permanent buff. The dragons and their provided buffs are.
Dragon | Buff |
Ocean | Lifesteal |
Infernal | Offensive Power |
Mountain | Defense |
Cloud | Movement Speed |
The first dragon of the game will spawn after four minutes into the game. Only three types of the dragon will spawn every match. Defeating two dragons will spawn the Elder Dragon, which provides a more powerful buff and spawn only once in the entire game.
Rift Herald

Rift Herald spawns at the Baron Pit situated beside the top lane or the Baron lane. Rift Herald drops an eye once it is defeated. The team to pick the eye can summon the Rift Herald on one of the lanes. Rift Herald will directly attack the closest enemy turret of the lane that he will be summoned in. Rift Herald spawns six minutes into the game in the place mentioned above.
Baron Nashor

Baron Nashor is the strongest monster of all the monsters who spawns during the matches and respawns after three minutes of being defeated. Baron spawns 10 minutes into the game. Defeating the Baron grants the players with the strongest buff. When a champion with Baron buff moves with his teammates, it provides damage buff to the allies nearby.
Roles
There are six roles in League of Legends Wild Rift. They are:
- Assassins
- Fighters
- Mages
- Marksmen
- Supports
- Tanks
Positions
Solo/ Baron Lane
Baron Lane is mainly played by fighter champions. Fighters need EXP to upgrade their level faster. This lane is mainly for champions who can control a whole lane on their own. Considering everything, Fighters are the best champion for this lane.
Mid
As the name says, this position is basically the mid-lane of the map. Being the shortest lane of the map, this lane is always crowded with champions of both sides. Mages mainly take the mid-lane and keep poking each other to gain basic control over the middle area of the map.
Duo/ Dragon Lane
Dragon Lane provides more gold when minions are killed. This lane is mainly played by marksmen and support champions. Marksman needs more gold to unlock more equipment to become stronger in the later stage of the game, which makes this lane the most suitable for them.
Support
Support champions mainly work to provide healing and shields to other champions. They are usually seen with the marksman. The marksman usually has less HP compared to other champions, so they need more support from the support champions of the team.
Jungle
The jungle is mainly played by the Assassin champions. Junglers mainly work to clear out and defeat several mobs who spawn on different parts of the maps. Defeating these mobs provides them with gold and EXPs to upgrade or buy equipment faster.
