Genshin Impact 4 Star Character Tier List in 2022

Genshin Impact is miHoYo’s most popular MMORPG game, released in 2020. The game features an anime-style open-world environment with an MMO battle system. It is a free-to-play game that follows the gacha mechanics as its monetisation process, meaning players will need to spend in-game currencies to unlock new characters from the vast pool of characters available in the game.

Since its release, miHoYo has added a wide range of characters to its roster. The number of playable characters is 51, with a few more already announced as upcoming characters. Each character has two types of unique skills called Elemental Skill and Elemental Burst. The characters can also control one of the seven natural elements: Cryo, Dendro, Pyro, Hydro, Anemo, Electro, and Geo.

Each character is ranked according to stars depending on their abilities and their natural elements. The highest rank is 5-star, while the lowest is 4-stars. So, if you don’t have enough 5-star characters unlocked, don’t worry. The 4-star characters will do the job fine for you.

4-star characters might not always be as good as 5-star characters, but they can surely give a good fight in front of their more substantial counterparts. Some of them will even outperform everyone in certain situations. But for doing that, you will need to know which 4-star character you should pick. We make it easier for you in this article by making a tier list of all the 4-star characters.

Genshin Impact 4-star Character Tier List

There are a total of 25 4-star characters included in this list. Before ranking the characters in tiers, we judged several factors of the characters, including their strength, abilities, power, flexibility, and difficulty.

For the ranking, we will distribute the characters into five categories:

S-Tier: Tier S includes the strongest characters among the 4-stars, who can outperform opponents in any situation.

A-Tier: A-Tier characters are not the strongest but can do a decent job against more vigorous opponents.

B-Tier: Characters of this tier are not that strong, but they can do a decent job in certain situations with others’ help.

C-Tier: C-Tier includes characters who are a bit weak in the game.

D-Tier: The weakest characters of the game are included in this tier.

S-Tier

Bennett

Bennett, also known as Benny, is the best support character, according to most Genshin Impact players. Bennett’s 12-second Elemental Burst can heal nearby teammates consistently and effectively. With a low cooldown and buff on his Elemental Burst, Benny can heal his teammates almost permanently. Bennett can also be a strong sub-DPS with his Elemental Skill.

Xingqiu

Credit: miHoYo

This hydro character is one of the strongest sub-DPS or DPS characters in the game. Xingqiu, with his Rain Swords, can deal a good amount of hydro damage on the enemies. Rain Sword also provides him with a bit of shield and healing.

Xiangling

Xiangling’s Elemental Burst, Pyronado, makes her one of the strongest DPS in this game. After using the Elemental Burst, the pyro blades keep circling the character, dealing a good amount of damage to any enemy in its radius. Xiangling’s Elemental Burst keeps improving as her constellation levels keep upgrading. However, her Elemental Skill, Gouba, can be inaccurate and lack damage at certain times.

A- Tier

Gorou

Credit: miHoYo

Gorou can be termed as one of the most defensive focus characters in Genshin Impact. This Geo-support character is a must-pick for teams comprised of other geo characters. Gorou can successfully defend and interrupt incoming enemy damage and projectile. He is also a great match with other defense scaling characters.

Sucrose

Credit: miHoYo

Sucrose might be a character with a low base attack stat. But she is one of the strongest Anemo support characters of the game. Alongside crowd control, Sucrose provides the team with an Elemental Mastery boost. Sucrose is the perfect pick for the elemental reaction teams, as she can trigger her swirl more efficiently, giving a buff to other reactions.

Diona

Diona can do a mixed job of healing teammates or providing them with shields. She can give shield with her Elemental Skill. Whereas her Elemental Burst’s AoE cryo field will effectively heal all teammates inside it. Though Diona’s healing speed is slower than many healers in the game, she does the job just fine for the team without a perfect healer.

Heizou

Heizou is one of the newest and strongest 4-star characters in Genshin Impact. This Anemo character can play many versatile roles in the game. Despite being a catalyst user, Heizou excels in close-range fights rather than long-range combats.

B- Tier

Barbara

Credit: miHoYo

Barabara’s abilities provide healing to her teammates. Her base attack is feeble, making her unable to carry out any different role. Barbara is primarily beneficial for healing other teammates using her Elemental Skill and Elemental Burst.

Yun Jin

Credit: miHoYo

Yun Jin is a Geo sub-DPS and support character available in the game. Her Elemental Shield provides her with a shield for a brief period. On the other hand, her Elemental Burst offers the team with attack speed buff, increasing the damage output.

Ningguang

Credit: miHoYo

Ningguang, a geo sub-DPS can provide a decent defense with her Jade Screen. Passing through the screen will give other geo characters a 12% geo bonus.

Yanfei

Credit: miHoYo

If you don’t have a 5-star DPS yet, Yanfei can be a good alternative for you. Yanfei, along with hydro and cryo support, can be a strong DPS character with strong charged attacks. Her Elemental Skill and Elemental Burst are used to inflict enemies with pyro damage.

Sayu

Credit: miHoYo

Sayu is an anemo healer who gives an elemental damage buff to her teammates besides healing them, using her Elemental Burst. Using her Elemental Skill, she can first roll on the ground and travel distances.

Razor

Credit: miHoYo

This electro character is also a pure DPS character. Using his claymore, he can deal much physical damage to the enemies using his Elemental Skill and Burst. Razor can be a good pick as a DPS if you don’t have any 5-star unlocked yet.

Noelle

Credit: miHoYo

This claymore user can fill in a variety of roles for a team. She can be a good tank with her shield. She is a sound healer with her healing abilities and a good DPS using her Elemental Burst. Noelle can heal her teammates while attacking the enemies.

Fischl

This electro bow user excels in long-ranged attacks using her bow. Although she acts as a supporting character at lower constellation levels, she can turn into a deadly DPS at constellation level six.

Kuki Shinobu

Credit: miHoYo

Kuki has not been a favorite pick for most players since the character came out. Kuki can do a decent healing job for the team. But there are a lot of other characters who can do her job more perfectly, making Kuki less preferable for the team.

Kaeya

Credit: miHoYo

Kaeya is a good DPS for players in the early game. Despite being a cryo character, the freezing ability of Kaeya is not much impressive compared to others.

C-Tier

Rosaria

Credit: miHoYo

Rosaria is another DPS character viable in the early game for beginners. Her Elemental Skill can deal a decent amount of damage, but it’s not too impressive compared to other DPS.

Chongyun

Credit: miHoYo

Chongyun is the only cryo claymore user. Chongyun can carry out the role of a good sub-DPS with his normal attack boost and ability to continuously freeze other enemies.

Thoma

Credit: miHoYo

Thoma is a polearm user, but his base damage is much less than others. Thoma can provide a shield to his teammates using his Elemental Skill and Elemental Burst. With relatively short cool-downs, Thoma can be a decent pick as a supporting character.

Lisa

Credit: miHoYo

Lisa’s Elemental Skill is not viable as it deals much less damage and has a longer cool-down timer. Other electro characters can do a decent job as a replacement for Lisa.

Beidou

Credit: miHoYo

Beidou’s attack can be challenging for many players as it takes a lot of precise timing to carry it out perfectly. Using Beidou will require a lot of patience for the players, as Beidou can be helpful only after she is attacked by an enemy first.

Kujou Sara

Credit: miHoYo

Sara’s Elemental Skill and Burst provide the team with an attack buff. Sara can also deal a decent amount of damage to the enemies. But her long cool-down on Elemental Burst makes her a wrong choice for the team.

D-Tier

Amber

Credit: miHoYo

Amber is one of the weakest characters in Genshin Impact. Since release, her attack damage has been meager, making her one of the worst characters in the game. Her Elemental Skill takes a lot of time to be used. At the same time, her Burst effect is concise.

Xinyan

Credit: miHoYo

The pyro character can do a decent shielding job for the team. But being a pyro DPS, Xinyan certainly does not fulfill any roles of a DPS main.
